ABOUT

I’m a photographer, director and DOP, working across commercial campaigns for the last 25 years.

What keeps me interested is the whole process. The idea, the conversation, the people, the pressure, the craft, and the work that hopefully sticks.

I like getting under the skin of a brief. Talking it through, pulling it apart, pushing it visually, and finding an edge or a tone that makes it feel specific.

I try hard not to have a fixed style. For me, it’s about finding the right tone and flavour for each job.

I move between stills and film, large technical productions, performance-driven work, casting, studio and location, as well as smaller projects. Frankly, I just love working.

I started out in Austria with a small studio in Innsbruck, shooting mostly tourism and some advertising work. I moved to Australia in my mid-twenties and, to be honest, I’ve never really done anything else, aside from being a husband, a father, and a sailor.

Arriving with limited English taught me to listen. Some might disagree. That stayed with me. It shaped a way of working that is focused, considered, and grounded in understanding what a project is trying to say before I put a camera on it.

I’ve always been drawn to new technologies and embraced them along the way. But more than ever, in a world flooded with images, I believe work only holds if it feels real. It needs a sense of weight, honesty, and authenticity.

At the end of the day, I believe clients are buying taste.

I was also a founder of Flint, a production company that shaped a big part of my working life.
